Angelo Michele Errico is a conductor, accompanist and harpsichordist. He continues his musical training with Marisa Somma and Ottavio Dantone and refines his technique. At the same time, he delves into topics such as the history and vocal technique of bel canto, performance practice of Italian music in the 18th and 19th centuries and song and opera singing with the famous expert in the art of singing, Michael Aspinall.
A major focus of his work is philologically and historically informed performance practice, whereby he gives the theater a central role in opera.
Angelo Michele Errico performs on the piano, harpsichord and fortepiano in concerts with famous singers, conductors and musicians such as Mariella Devia, Cecilia Bartoli, Ottavio Dantone, René Jacobs, Jean Christophe Spinosi, Jérémie Rhorer, Daniele Gatti and Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
As a musical assistant, répétiteur and harpsichordist, he works at important institutions, theaters and festivals, such as at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, at the Teatro Real in Madrid, at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Maliland, at the Teatro and the Accademia del Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino, at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, at the Theater an der Wien, at the Opéra-Comique in Paris, at the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, at the Festival Mozart de La Coruña, at the Teatro Arriaga and ABAO-OLBE in Bilbao, at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Festival Pergolesi-Spontini in Jesi, Rossini Festival in Wildbad and at the Glyndebourne Festival.
In 2013, he worked as harpsichordist and assistant to Ottavio Dantone in the production of Mozart's "Magic Flute" at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia and in 2014 as assistant to Omer Meir Wellber in "Così fan tutte" at the Semperoper in Dresden. In 2014 he was assistant and harpsichordist to Ottavio Dantone in Handel's "Rinaldo" at the Glyndebourne Festival and to René Jacobs at the Theater an der Wien.
In 2018 he conducted the CircOpera Gran Circo Rossini for the Pergolesi-Spontini Foundation in Jesi. In 2019, he conducts and performs under the direction of Cesare Scarton in the production of Paisiello's "Barbiere di Siviglia" at the Chigiana International Festival in Siena. In 2023, he will appear as musical director at the final concert of the 14th edition of the Pietro Antonio Cesti International Competition for Baroque Opera Singing as part of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music.
Together with Mariella Devia, Angelo Michele Errico has been giving masterclasses at the Showa University of Music in Kawasaki, Japan, since 2012. He also teaches as a lecturer at the Accademia del Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino in Florence and at the Accademia Scuola dell'Opera del Teatro Comunale in Bologna. He is currently a harpsichordist in the orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and a lecturer at the Conservatorio "Santa Cecilia" in Rome.
