Marian Polin is a lecturer in church music at the “Claudio Monteverdi” Conservatory in Bolzano (South Tyrol), artistic director of the Vinschgau-Merano OrgelKunst-Festival and the ensemble La florida Capella. In 2021, he initiated the concert series “Innsbrucker Hofmusik” in cooperation with the Tyrolean State Museums.
Polin studied church music, organ, harpsichord and basso continuo in Vienna, Linz, Milan, Freiburg/Fribourg and Basel; his most influential teachers include Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, Maurizio Croci, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Wolfgang Glüxam, Brett Leighton and Pier Damiano Peretti. He is a regular guest at international festivals, including the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, the Festival Musik & Kirche Brixen, the Tage Alter Musik in Herne, the VielKlang Festival Tübingen, I Tesori d'Orfeo Pavia, the Stockholm Early Music Festival, the Freiburg/Fribourg Organ Festival, the Semana internacional de Órgano de Madrid, the Braga Organ Festival, the Organi storici in Cadore, the Bolzano Organ Summer, etc.
Polin has been awarded several prizes for his work: 3rd prize at the “Grand Prix d'Echo” (Treviso, 2017); H. I. F. Biber Prize for Early Music (St. Florian, 2021); 1st prize at the “Daniel Herz” International Organ Competition (Brixen, 2022). He was also a scholarship holder of the “Fondation Académie d'Orgue Fribourg/Freiburg” and received the “Prix d'excellence” for his academic thesis at the Haute École de Musique Lausanne. His interest in early music and historical instruments is documented by a series of CD and video recordings. As a consultant for organ restorations, he has worked with renowned organ builders such as Hendrik Ahrend.
