French painter, poet and trained historian Natalie Prats has been working as a costume designer since the late 1980s, creating designs for more than one hundred theatre and opera productions at venues such as the Théâtre de la Ville (Paris), Théâtre National de Toulouse, Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier (Paris), Théâtre National de Strasbourg, Théâtre National de la Criée (Marseille), Théâtre du Port de la Lune (Bordeaux), Théâtre des 13 Vents (Montpellier), Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord (Paris), Théâtre du Peuple de Bussang, Théâtre du Capitole (Toulouse), Opéra National de Bordeaux, Opéra National de Lyon, Staatsoper Prag, Grand Théâtre de Genève and many others. The Atelier Lyrique de l'Opéra National de Paris also draws on the artist's work for many of its productions.
After assisting Patrice Cauchetier (J. B. Lully's "Atys", Paris 1987, directed by Jean-Marie Villégier, musical director: William Christie), Nathalie Prats began her career as a costume designer working with Marcel Maréchal, Jacques Nichet, Jean-Louis Thamin, Jacques Kraemer, Charles Tordjman and Alain Ollivier. Since then, she has regularly worked with directors Philippe Berling, Roland Auzet, Dominique Pitoiset, Stephen Taylor, Olivier Letellier, Irène Bonnaud, Laurent Laffargue, Guillaume Delaveau, Bernard Levy, choreographers Béatrice Massin, Noëlle Simonet and Jean-Marc Piquemal, and the Compagnie Baro d'Evel Cirk.
